Check Out this New Compact Crossover, the Acura ADX!

Expected to hit dealers in early 2025, the 2025 Acura ADX will get turbocharged 1.5-liter power and optional all-wheel-drive. Price starts in the mid-30s.

Acura just officially revealed its new compact crossover SUV, the ADX. Several months ago, I predicted that we would see a lot of similarities to the Honda HR-V and otherwise use a lot of Integra design and features. And now we know that is indeed the case.

At launch, there will be three trims of ADX: base, A-spec, and A-spec with the Advanced package.

Acura used a global compact platform, the same one used on the Integra. That’s also the platform used on the Civic and the HR-V among others. But unlike the Integra, the new ADX runs on a 104.5-inch wheelbase, the exact same as the Honda HR-V. And it’s length measures identically to the Integra, 185.8 inches.

How’s It Look?

Styling wise, it essentially looks like a tall Integra Sport wagon. Up front, you get the now signature frameless diamond pentagon grille, and a nice long strip of running lights that Acura calls chicane. In profile, Acura nicely incorporated a subtle front and fairly bold rear fender flares into the body.

And, in the rear, you see a lot of resemblance to the Honda HR-V. It’s a very similar slope and shape of the tailgate, thought the roof mounted spoiler is definitely bigger. No to mention the dual exhaust tips. Acura mounts 18-inch alloy wheels as standard, with 19s used on both A-spec trims.

Inside, all ADXs get a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 9.0-inch center display. It comes standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a wireless smartphone charger. Standard equipment also includes dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, and a moonroof.

A-spec interiors get a panoramic moonroof, heated and ventilated front seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel, a chrome shift knob, stainless steel pedals, and contrast stitching. Adding the advanced package gets you a high-end, 15-speaker, Bang & Olufsen sound system, Google built-in (Assistant, Maps, and Play), Alexa built-in, a heated steering wheel, remote engine start, and rain-sensing wipers.

Finally, a power tailgate is standard and—Just like the Honda HR-V—the ADX offers a healthy 24 cubic feet of cargo space with the second row up, 55 cubic feet with it folded.

How about under the hood?

Under the hood, the ADX follows the base Integra and gets a 1.5-liter inline-four-cylinder engine, I bet it matches the 200 HP and 192 lb.-ft of torque of the Integra. After all, it does use the same direct-fuel injection, variable-valve timing, and turbo. But Acura did not yet announce those figures.

The engine mates up to a continuously variable transmission, which is a bit of a bummer, but not a surprise. Luckily, Honda CVTs generally behave, and you do get paddles and step shift programming to simulate gears. I still prefer gears.

This is inherently a front-engine, front wheel drive SUV, but Acura will offer all-wheel-drive as an option on all three ADX trims. Acura did not yet reveal how much that will cost.

For the chassis, the Acura mounted a fully independent suspension as well as an aluminum front sub frame, which is nice to keep the weight down up front. The HR-V does feel a little bit too adult behind the wheel. Here’s hoping that the ADX drives more like an Integra. I’m cautiously optimistic.

How much?

Expect the new ADX to arrive at dealers some time in the first couple of months of 2025. Acura says the base ADX will cost “in the mid-$30,000s.” Considering that the Integra costs $33,000 before $1195 destination charge. Plan on the ADX to start at around $35,000-$36,000 before destination or $36k-$37K including it.

It Looks like Acura found a good place to add a vehicle to its line up and at a price point that’s open to a wide variety of buyers. The ADX looks sharp and comes with a good level of standard equipment. But I still need to know if it drives like the other Acura models. Fingers crossed; I will find out soon.
