Chrysler is welcoming back a member of the brand’s minivan family, adding the 2025 Chrysler Voyager to its retail lineup as a budget-friendly option under $40,000.

Look at the New Budget Friendly Voyager

For 2025, the Chrysler Voyager minivan returns to dealer lots. Recently offered as fleet sale only, it now lines up as a low priced alternative to the Pacifica.

Families rejoice: your minivan options have just expanded … sort of. Chrysler, which has sold the Pacifica minivan since the 2004 model year, is bringing the Voyager nameplate back to dealer lots. The Chrysler Voyager, which joined the lineup in 2020 as a budget-friendly version of the Pacifica, went fleet-only in 2021, but is now available to Joe Consumer once again at a starting point of $39,995 (before destination).

Voyagers place in the lineup

The 2025 Chrysler Voyager will only be available in the LX trim level. That places the Voyager just below the 2025 Pacifica, which pares its lineup down to three trims: Select, Limited and Pinnacle. This makes the Pacifica Chrysler’s premium minivan offering.

But the entry-level Voyager isn’t devoid of content. Standard features include seating for seven, Stow ‘n Go seats that fold into the floor, power sliding doors and liftgate, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 10.5-in infotainment touchscreen running Uconnect 5, a seven inch digital instrument panel, adaptive cruise control, and three-zone climate control.

The Voyager is powered by the stalwart 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, making 287 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. That power reaches the front wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission. If you want all-wheel drive, or a plug-in-hybrid powertrain, you’ll have to pay more to climb up into the Pacifica lineup.

Chrysler’s Complete Minivan lineup

Although there is a new name (again) in the minivan market, it doesn’t exactly mean there are more choices. With Chrysler dropping the Pacifica Touring and Touring L trims, you’re actually left with one fewer trim. Chrysler says, however, that the Voyager does get some exterior treatment to set it apart from the Pacifica, specifically “classic” styling up front and in the rear. It looks like that basically means a smaller grille and simpler taillights. The Voyager’s spot at the bottom of the Chrysler Minivan podium is where the big difference lies.

There has been a lamentable (depending on your point of view) shortage of options in the minivan segment. Sure, three-row SUVs provide much of the same utility in a less embarrassing package, but there are those of us who still value practicality over fashionability. There’s a reason dads love New Balance shoes. And what’s more practical for getting kids in a car than sliding doors?

Here’s a video review of the 2022 Kia Carnival

While the minivan segment remains small, each option out there serves its own purpose. Chrysler has those Stow ‘n Go seats and all-wheel drive, as well as a plug-in option in the Pacifica. The Toyota Sienna has its fuel-sipping hybrid powertrain. The Honda Odyssey has excellent seating configuration with its Magic Slide seats. The Kia Carnival offers user-friendly tech and lounge-like comfort. I just wish the next time a new minivan came out, it was, you know, actually new.
