Toyota updated its Sienna minivan for 2025 and added important safety tech as well as several comforts. It’s also hybrid only with available all-wheel-drive!
What’s new
Toyota updated its Sienna minivan for the 2025 model year and stuffed it full of new features. To start, the Sienna now offers a system called the advanced rear seat reminder system. Using radar technology, the system scans the minivan for any movement after vehicle shut down and systematically escalates warnings over the course of several minutes. It will even call you!
Yes, you can shut the system off. If, say, you have the windows down and a dog hanging out. But, for over stressed, over worked, under rested adults, this system could prove a life saver.
Thankfully, Toyota added comfort to the Sienna as well. Mainly in the form of a fridge. Not an A/C vent channeled to small storage space, but an actual refrigerator that will reach freezing temperatures if you ask it to. Toyota calls it the fridge box and says it will hold six bottles of water or many popsicles.
Considering the potential mess, the new Sienna now includes a built-in vacuum as well. Tucked into the back of the lower center console. The flexible tube will reach to all corners of the interior. And a small container pops out to empty the vacuum. Both it and the fridge box come as standard on the Platinum trims and optional on the Limited trim Sienna’s
After all of that cleaning, you need to relax. Thankfully, Toyota bolted up second row lounge, captain’s chairs that include all kinds of adjustability and La-Z-Boy style leg rests that extend out. It’s properly comfortable.
Powertrain
Of course, the Sienna is also a vehicle. Power comes from a 2.5-liter hybrid system that delivers a total of 245 horsepower. The engine provides most of the power, 189 HP and 176 lb.-ft, but the main electric motor gets close, offering up to 180 HP and, actually, the most torque at 199 lb.-ft. If you wish to go all wheel drive, Toyota will mount a second electric motor to deliver 54 HP and 89 lb.-ft of torque to the rear axle for added traction. Fuel economy is in the mid-thirties.
inside
Inside, higher spec trims offer a fully digital, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a second, also 12.3-inch center display. The latter enables wireless Apple CarPlay and Android connectivity as well as a wireless smartphone charger. Limited and Platinum trims add a 10-in head up display to the mix. You can also warm up or cool off with heated and ventilated seats.
conclusion
The base price for the base, front-wheel-drive, 2025 Toyota Sienna LE trim starts at $39,185, about $1500 more than a 2024 model year equivalent. If the other trims follow suit, that puts the top-of-the-line Platinum trim at around $55K.
That’s a lot of money. But, man, that’s a lot of cool stuff too.

[…] For the 2025 model year, Toyota offers updates to its Sienna minivan. The most compelling, to me at least, is the new Platinum trim that offers both a vacuum and a refrigerator built in to the second row. It’s a way to keep kids happy and the parents sane. More importantly, it also includes an active RADAR system to notify you immediately if it senses anyone was left in the car. Learn more about the Sienna Platinum here […]
