The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Trail Boss arrives this summer and brings more off-road capability to the truck EV lineup. It’s also the new top trim.
Chevrolet added a third Silverado EV trim to the line-up this year. The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Trail Boss. Raised nearly two inches above the Work Truck and LT trims, the Trail Boss also receives all-terrain tires, front tow hooks, and other details. And, with the departure of the RST launch trim, the Trail Boss also takes its place as the top-of-the-line Silverado EV trim.
WHAT MAKES A TRAIL BOSS
Chief among the changes, the Trail Boss gets lifted by nearly two-inches, giving more suspension travel and ground clearance for the four-wheel-independent system to work. Compared with the Work Truck’s 8.1-in and the LT’s 8.2-in of ground clearance, the Trail Boss clears a full 10.0-in before it’s encumbered by anything on the ground. That suspension also makes uses of a hydraulic rebound control system to help improve control.
From there, 18-in wheels wrapped with 35-in All-Terrain tires get to work gripping whatever surface you throw the Trail Boss’s way, pavement or otherwise. Chevrolet also tweaks the front fascia to improve approach angle clearances and adds red front tow hooks for good measure. Finally, it stands apart with unique exterior badging and interior traits. Among them, easily accessible auxiliary switches.
Chevrolet also includes some off-road friendly technology. You get the Terrain Mode drive mode, which allows sharper turning angles for the four-wheel steering system. And, in the same vein, Sidewinder mode, which turns all four wheels in the same direction such that the Trail Boss moves diagonally across the path.

ELECTRIC POWERTRAIN
As the top trim Chevrolet offers for its Silverado EV, the Trail Boss only comes with either the Extended or the Max range battery packs. You see the standard range pack on the Work Truck and LT trims. Each pack offers strengths. With the extended range, you can tow the most, up to 12,500 lbs. And carry a 2100 lb. payload.
Ironic when you consider the heavier the load, the lower the range. According to the EPA you’ll travel 410 miles between charges without towing anything. You also get less potential horsepower, but still a plentiful 625 horsepower and 765 lb.-ft. No stress there.
On the other hand, the max range battery pack raises ranges to 478 miles, a fantastic number to see. And peak power soars to 725 horsepower and 775 lb.-ft of torque. That’s when you utilize WOW mode by the way, I explain that in detail when I reviewed the RST launch edition.
Also, peak charging time changes. With the extended pack, power accepted peaks at 300 kW. The max pack will accept 350 kW.
By the way, the standard battery pack delivers 286 miles of range in the Work Truck and 283 miles in the LT.

INTERIOR
New for 2026, all trims get the same 11.0-in digital instrument cluster and 17.7-in center display, even the Work Truck. And you can equip all trims to offer up to 10.2 kW of power outbound to other electric devices, even a house.
Both the LT and Trail Boss trims have the multi-flex mid-gate as an option, too. It allows you to, effectively, turn the second row into an extension of the truck bed to haul a myriad of long things. Again, it’s something I reviewed thoroughly in the RST.
More details about the Trail Boss trim’s interior specifically will arrive at a later date.
SUMMARY
As the new top trim of the group, the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Trail Boss costs a pretty penny. The extended range battery equipped model starts at $72,095 (including the $2095 destination charge). Going with the max battery raises that price to a cool $88,695. More than $30k over the base price of a standard battery work truck, which is $54,895 by the way.
But the Trail Boss Chevys typically deliver a nice all-around package of daily usability with off-road prowess. This seems the same, albeit without the gas tank. It also shows that we continue to march, steadfast, into an electric powered automotive world. I think it’s cool that Chevrolet still wants to give you a way to get dirty. I can’t wait to drive one to give a review.
